Any defects arising from faulty workmanship within a 10 year period from completion will be made good by Loft Living, free of charge. Loft Living commit to only use materials that comply with current BS specification where applicable and the benefit of special manufacturer guarantees will be available to the Customer.

Deciding to have a loft conversion was one of the biggest financial decisions we have made. It was also a huge change to our home, the structure of our house and hopefully will be a positive transformation to our home life. As I write, there is one minor job left to do, and then it will be goodbye to the skip on the drive and the scaffolding. When we first looked for a company, out of the four we approached only two contacted us. One was a national company and the other was Loft Living, which is relatively local to us. Of the two, Loft Living provided a lower quote and informed us that they employed their own team, rather than sub-contracting the work. Loft living have been great from start to finish. Not only did they provide the vision for us when we were purchasing the house, they successfully project-managed the conversion too, producing a finished room to a really lovely standard. Dan and George and their team showed wonderful professionalism throughout, providing regular updates and advice as we went through the process. We were introduced to Loft Living by our architect son-in-law. From our initial meeting with George and Dan we had complete confidence that they understood exactly what our requirements were and kept us informed with regular visits at every stage of the project. All necessary design drawings, building regs. etc. were provided by them. The works consisted of an additional bedroom, a mezzanine area with roof lights over and various reconfigurations of the existing building. From the very first visit Dan and George were the most enthusiastic about the potential of the build and what we could do with the space. George was the only person from the four companies that came to quote who recognised that we would need a water tank system as our house was open plan, and this knowledge of new regs and new techniques carried throughout the build. Dan our project manager was always on hand, and the build ran according to schedule with a really friendly team. We always knew who was coming and what they would be doing. The guys worked in a very clean way and were mindful of noise and mess. The job they’ve done is outstanding, the space looks great and we couldn’t be happier. I would like to take this opportunity to express my thoughts regarding our recent Loft Conversion that was carried out by Loft Living. It is not in my nature to be flattering or flowery, however, I felt it only fair to convey this in writing (feel free to use it in any Marketing Material). The property is an 1800’s Farmhouse with many original features and therefore needed some careful consideration and planning prior to embarking on a project of this size and nature. Both my wife and I spent many, many months planning for, and talking to Contractors until such a point came that we were comfortable with our choice. I will bullet point our experiences below: We found Loft Living to be helpful from the outset and prepared to answer some fairly in depth questions about financial standing, previous projects, work methods and materials and accuracy of time scales. We agreed early on a payment plan that we felt was fair to both parties whilst not exposing any party to significant risk. We insisted on everything being in writing and watertight prior to commencing the project and this included details such as planning issues, building regs, sign off procedure…

Bristol Specialists in Loft Conversions

There are plenty of experienced and reputable builders around who would take on your loft conversion – but their expertise will be limited to the actual build. They may well not take into account things like structural calculations, and could well cut corners (quite literally in some cases) to make things fit the brief.

Then you’ll have to jump through hoops with local authorities to make sure you have the correct planning permissions in place, and do your homework to establish whether your plans meet building and fire safety regulations, or whether you need a party wall agreement with immediate neighbours.

Your builder may want to hire a structural engineer to ensure the conversion doesn’t impact on the stability of the structure of our house, and there may be extra costs incurred for things like scaffolding.

A loft conversion managed “piecemeal” can easily turn into an expensive, long-winded exercise with disappointing results.
